I don’t miss my exes, but I do miss the way I felt when I was with them.
My best friend mentioned going to the rodeo carnival with some friends, and it reminded me of going there with Gerardo last year. It was one of the most romantic dates we had. I don’t want to be with Gerardo anymore, but I want to be with someone, dammit!
I want to share funnel cake and a hot dog with someone. I want someone to kiss at the top of the ferris wheel. I want someone to hold hands with. I want someone to play silly carnival games with.
Instead this year I get to take 20 5-year-olds to the lame-ass Walker County Fair.
Yeah, there’s my exciting love life in a nutshell.

I happened to be passing through Houston yesterday, so I called Gerardo and we went on an un-planned date.
Since we didn’t have time to plan anything ahead of time, and since his parents are crazy and we couldn’t go to anyone’s house to hang out, we ended up going to random places like the 99 Cents Store and CVS Pharmacy, to name a few. While it wasn’t exactly a conventional date, I had the best time.
Randomly, over our dinner at Bennigan’s, he told me he loved me.
My heart still flutters thinking about.

Or a new thing every day, really.
I am going to try to do something new every day.
Today, that thing was making stuffed bell peppers. I seemed to have forgotten that a cup of uncooked rice is not quite the same as a cup of cooked rice. Whoops. All in all, though, it was yummilicious.
